85 years ago, in 1920, a female African American, Mamie Smith, recorded the first ever blues record on the OKeh record label.  This album is a tribute to her and the women who followed her: Gertrude "Ma" Rainey, Bessie Smith, Clara Smith, Victoria Spivey, and Memphis Minnie.

OKeh is a studio recording of songs, ideas, and fragments that were collected over a two year period ... some of these were left intact and others distilled, forged, and processed into new beings.  Dusty, natural guitar is imbedded between tracks of uniquely manipulated guitar with a tiny bit of harmonica, recorder, and toy organ thrown in for further texture.  Here is an album whose sounds shift smoothly from contemporary to erstwhile.

the insides of her insides 7" (seren records) 2004
SOLD OUT

A. the insides of her insides
B. 3rd wave robot

The inside of her insides was recorded live at St. Mary's Church, Nottingham, at a gig with Cancel House and Urban Myth. It's a sweet, melting number, a simple riff dipped in a vat of syrupy hallucinogens.
3rd wave robot was recorded at Nottingham's Junktion 7 for a benefit for Ladyfest Manchester and is the polar opposite of it's A side. Precise scratches and clicks lead into a cacophonous roar of feedback and noise.

outside in CD (makeshift records) 2002

2. 23 x 23
3. nuts 'n bolts

7. along the way mp3
8. micromark
9. bypass still open (with Urban Myth)
10. give & take (with Pat Thomas and unplugboy)

This is inventive and captivating guitar; warm tones and drones soothe the soul while tensions get heightened by scrapes, pops, and crackles. Outside In is 53 minutes of music recorded live in the UK and Canada; ten heartbreakingly beautiful songs teeter on the brink of collapse while audiences hold their breath.
